Disconnected
Three siblings, Maria, Ellie, and Leo, share a living room but exist in separate digital worlds. When Maria leaves to run errands, the internet cuts out, forcing Ellie and Leo offline.

This film transitions from cold, isolated blue tones that reflect digital distraction into warmer orange tones that represent the non-digital world. What made this project different was working collaboratively with a DP. Stepping into the director role, allowed me to see this story through a more experienced eye and with the added hand I was able to understand how importance of good crew collabertion espically between head of department.
During, this project I also took on the role as colourist. While I'm still actively improving my colour grading skills, I would have loved to have a dedicated colourist on board. This could have allowed the story to fit tone I orginaly intented.
I also working with a composer for the first time which added a layer I didn't even consider but I'm glad I did. The music help elvate the disconnection within a family home perfectly. I plan on perhaps submitting this film to festivels.
One lesson I learned from my privious work was the importance of perperation and assuming Murphies law (Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong). For this reason, we built in a proper prep day. Where we were able to walk through our full plan in advance, testing out each shot and lighting setup. This made us spot a some mistakes we would otherwise had to fix while filming. Having a day to test removed a lot of guesswork on set.
